Our Mission

Our mission on earth is threefold:

1. Lift up Jesus as Savior of the world, the eternal forgiver.

2. Build up the saved for a closer walk with Jesus.

3. Help those who cannot help themselves.

1. MISSION NUMBER ONE: Lift up Jesus as Savior of the world, the eternal forgiver.  Jesus made it very clear in His own words, there are four things which every person must do be saved, and become a true follower of His.

a. FAITH – the belief that Jesus is the eternal Messiah, the Savior, the Son of God

“…unless you believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins,” John 8:32.

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that
He is a rewarder of those who seek Him,” (Hebrews 11:6 ).

b. REPENTENCE – the decision deep in one’s heart that he or she will change his way of life and follow Jesus as
                        Lord

In Luke 13:3 Jesus said, “I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”  See also Matthew

                        4:17; Acts 2:38; Acts 17:30;

c. CONFESS JESUS AS LORD – the spoken words that one believes that Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah
spoken of in the Old Testament.

In Matthew 10:32 Jesus says, “Everyone therefore who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him
before My Father who is in heaven.”  See also Philippians 2:9-11; I Timothy 6:12; Matthew 27:11.

d. BE BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST – where salvation is.

Jesus said it clearly in Mark 16:15,16 – “ And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel
                        to all creation.

He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be
                        condemned.” See also Acts 2:36-38; I Corinthians 12:13; Acts 22:16; I Peter 3:20-21.

Salvation in “…in Christ Jesus”, II Timothy 2:10.  How does a person find his way into Christ Jesus?  In
Galatians 3:27 God teaches us how, “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves
with Christ.”  Baptism actually places us in Christ where salvation is.

Every every case of salvation in the entire New Testament, there is no record of anyone eating, drinking, or
sleeping between the point of faith and his or her baptism.  Some were even baptized in the middle of the
night  (Acts 16:25-34).  Why?  Because salvation from our sins comes at the point of baptism.  Read
Romans 6:1-6. We are raised to walk in newness of life AFTER baptism, not before it.  Now we understand
why Jesus said, “He who believes and is baptized shall be saved,” (read Mark 16:15-16).

Be careful to understand that the salvation in baptism is not a work of man but the working of God,
                        Colossians 2:12.

2. MISSION NUMBER TWO: Build up the saved for a closer walk with Jesus.

Once a person has been forgiven of his sins (through faith, repentance, confession of Jesus as Lord, and
baptism) then Jesus adds them to His church (Acts 2:46-47).  When that  happens we are a part of the
church, the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23).  Our goal is to follow the scriptures and build up one
another.  In 1 Thess. 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, just as you also
are doing. See also Romans 14:19;  Hebrews 3:13.

Think how the world would be changed if every person followed these simple directions from Jesus and His
disciples!  Crime would vanish, hate crimes would merely be a bad memory.  Our mission to the saved is one
of building up, not tearing down.  Our mission is one of brotherly love and encouragement.

3. MISSION NUMBER THREE: Help those who cannot help themselves.

In James 2, God has called us, as brothers and sisters in the family of God, to help one another when
physical needs arise. We help with food for the sick, guidance for the fallen, and love for one another.  What
a great blessing it is to be a member of such a caring family! Read Galatians 6:2; James 2:14-26.
